A thought a day, to rip the veil. The rhyme was unwanted. And it's not even a rhyme anyway.

De Rerum Vitae Release Roadmap

This document contains our current thinking about the development of De Rerum Vitae. I mean it. Each milestone is identified by the version number followed by the code name. Please note that the planned release date may (or, most probably, will ) vary.

1.0 "goofy" - ON AIR
Planned release date: by march 2006
Goals: clean the code; fully adhere to standards*; improve accessibility; get comments either every day or for each post (yeah right like it was gonna happen...); ignore IE.
*note: this has been done for as much as it is in my power since I don't have access to the whole code.

2.0 "pro we go" - WILL START DEVELOPING IN A FEW MONTHS OR SO
Planned release date: summer 2006
Goals: totally new cool graphic; independent web server; mailing list; favourites; get comments every day AND for each post; ignore IE.

2.1 "so cool"
Planned release date: unknown
Goals: multiple style sheet (see cssZenGarden); keep ignoring IE.

3.0 "invasion of the world"
Planned release date: unknown
Goals: become an internet big; get the bloggie awards in one or more categories; get a review in a big newspaper; get an invitation for the late night show; march on the streets; found a sept; govern one or more countries; get thousands of comments by web, email, ordinary mail, shouting at the window; kill bill and delete microsoft programs from every computer on earth.

I'm still thinking about interaction with you users (such things as rating the posts, publish posts, submitting your own stylesheet etc.)... In case, I'll let you know.
Should you have any interesting suggestion, write it in the comments.

Site Feed HOW-TO

Do you want the thoughts published here directly in your mail client, thus avoiding to constantly check the web site?
Here is a brief guide on how to set up a feed for this blog. Since I use Mozilla Thunderbird, this tips refer to it. I do believe that similar procedures can be followed with other mail clients (Opera Mail, Eudoramail, MS Outlook etc.) or news reader (NewsMonster, NewsCrawler, NewsGator etc.). For more information visit the respectives web sites and/or the Blogger's Guide:

Blogger's Guide: What is a site feed?
Blogger's Guide: What is Atom?

URL site feed: http://rerumvitae.blogspot.com/atom.xml

How to set up the feed account in Mozilla Thunderbird:

Click Edit > Account Settings...
Click on Add Account
Choose RSS News & Blogs > Next
Insert the account name > Next > Finish

Now that the account has been created, it is necessary to subscribe to the service. The Account Settings window should still be open:

Choose the account you have just created, then Manage Subscriptions... > Add
Insert here the URL site feed as above, then OK > OK > OK

I would like to extend this mini-guide to other mail clients and news reader. I would appreciate any contribution; please post your guides as a comment and I will add them to the main page.
